So, I created a script which gives you a menu to spawn props (sv_cheats 1 required). You can create barricades/bases with it while the director is off (director_stop in console), and then you can get him back on (director_start) and try to survive in the unique base you just created, or just goof off with your creativity. I hope someone will make a gamemode like this someday. Stuff you will need:

The Radial Menu script:

(Extract it to Steam\steamapps\common\left 4 dead\left4dead\scripts)

Spawn/rotate/remove binds:
bind key "+mouse_menu BarricadeBuilder"
